On July 20th 2013, the third Veggie-Parade will be taking place in Berlin – this year under the slogan “who to stroke, who to eat” („wen streicheln, wen essen“).

"Veggie-Parade" zieht durch Berlin - rbb aktuell

This question is being clearly answered by increasing numbers of people through their choice to switch to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. We want to celebrate this with you on July 20th at the Veggie-Parade.
We’ve arranged a trailer with a huge banner showing the „wen streicheln, wen essen“ slogan, and of course the ‘OinkMobil’ as well as a music car will also be there. It starts at 11:00am at Pariser Platz (Brandenburg Gate) and the parade route will take us to Alexanderplatz.

With over 150 activists in cow and pig costumes – pets also welcome – as well as several hundred other people, we want to highlight the numerous possibilities of a modern, animal-friendly diet, for which neither dogs nor pigs nor any other living being has to be slaughtered or forced to suffer. On the contrary, a vegan diet is fun, tasty, varied, good for the environment, offers nutritional resources for all people and is genuinely animal-friendly.

We're delighted to announce that Dr. Melanie Joy - social psychologist, prize-winning author ("Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows") and long-standing animal rights activist - will be appearing as a special guest to give a speech this year. Dr. Melanie Joy will also be giving a presentation entitled "Speaking Truth to Power"at an event organised by VEBU (the German vegetarian society) on Saturday night at 8 pm at Almodovar Hotel in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
For the actual Veggie-Parade, we also promise you many more top speeches:
· Mahi Klosterhalfen, executive of the German animal rights organisation 'Albert Schweitzer Stiftung für unsere Mitwelt'
· Sebastian Zösch, head of the 'Vegetarierbund Deutschland e.V.' (the German vegetarian society)
· Brigitte Jenner, spokesperson of 'Tierversuchsgegner Berlin und Brandenburg e.V.' (an organisation campaigning against animal testing).
· Björn Moschinski – VeganHeadChef – author und vegan restaurant manager
· Marsili Cronberg, author of "Wie ich verlernte, Tiere zu essen" ("How I unlearned to eat animals").
· Doreen Rothe – animal rights activist from berlin-vegan.de
And of course there will be lots of music!

Please bring along as many people as possible to accompany you at the Veggie-Parade. We have lots of costumes to wear on the day, but we would also love to see your own costume creations or just to have you there as you are.
Please be at Pariser Platz am 10:30am so that we can get started punctually at 11:00am. Further information about the programme and the route will follow shortly.
